The other night we were having drinks and couldn’t decide on a Pinot Noir – I wanted one from New Zealand and The Sicilian wanted one from California. We ended up ordering both and had the table decide which one was better. To the Sicilian’s surprise the vote went to the less expensive New Zealand. No shit! I know my Pinot.
However, she was a little bitter at the results and started ranting on my choice as being thinner, weaker, watery, etc. All of which was expected, but when she called it the “Chuck Mangione of wines”, I was thrown for a loop. I knew what she meant because it’s definitely lighter. What sent me into a tailspin was that Chuck’s 1977 hit instantly jumped into my head and it’s been lodged there ever since. Yes, it’s another earworm. I’ve had other well-documented bouts with earworms in the past – most notably with Magnet & Steel and The Backstreet Boys. What made this even more insidious was that it’s jazz. And I fucking hate jazz.
Truth be told, it wasn’t the worst of tailspins. Hearing this song again brought up fond memories of my dad and uncle listening to this over and over. But it’s still jazz.
As with all earworms, I could just listen to it several times until I get sick of it. But I always find it more helpful to tell others about the song so it gets into their heads as well. Because misery loves company. Enjoy!
The best part of this video is the guy with the Harry Reems mustache dancing around stage playing – THE COWBELL!!
I rest my case.
Hahahaha!! Thats great! I will have to remember that one!
Lmao battle of the wine tasters. She tried testing your skills hard.Maybe she won this round though.
