I’m really digging this lip dub craze. It’s where big groups of people lip-synch a song and edit it to create a music video. Think of it as being like Milli Vanilli, but on a larger scale. And honest about it.
The first one I ever saw was this one, featuring one of my favorite Guilty Pleasure songs –
There are thousands of them on YouTube, mostly done by high school and college groups. Some of them are really well thought out while others are just a bunch of people barely getting through the song. Whatever the relative merits are, they all look like the participants had a blast doing them. Here’s one from UBC-Vancouver that looks to be a promo to get high schoolers to go there.
It’s a really innovative way to showcase the collective creativity and the general “fun-ness” of a place. It’s hard to say whether anyone would make their decision on which college to go to based on this video. However I can say that, seeing that I went to an all-boys high school, the ladies at the 3:20 mark would’ve done the trick for me.
By far THE BEST ONE EVER is this wedding proposal that was performed live. A lot of work must’ve gone into this to pull it off and it’s absolutely brilliant. Any of you guys out there thinking about creative ways to propose to your girlfriend – the bar has officially been raised. You’re better off making sure she doesn’t see it…
Have you seen any other really good ones?
That office one was hilarious. I can’t watch Isaac’s proposal again because it just turns me into a sobbing mess (in a good, scary, my-kids-think-I’m-crazy way). Thanks for sharing!
haha… Thanks for stopping by (and the follow!).
Being that I’m a hopeless romantic, I’ve seen Isaac’s proposal probably 5 times. Clearly I have some catching up to do with the others. As for Milli/Vanilli, when you’re that beautiful it doesn’t really matter……
oh my… which one was prettier Milli or Vanilli? 😉
Ok, I just watched them fake sing and dance to Blame It On The Rain. So the answer is Both…..For those of us that were single and clubbing in the late 80’s this was our version of Magic Mike 🙂
This is a very cool Friday pick! I don’t have sound at the moment, though, blast. I really want to watch the wedding proposal.
I don’t think I’ve seen any good ones. It reminds me of the flash mob craze, which I love!
I’m SURE you’re going to be all over the office one.. I like the spontaneity of the flash mobs, but a lot of them now are so planned out that half the people watching are friends. ALthough I still love the musical flash mobs like this one – http://youtu.be/dkYZ6rbPU2M
i have a really good one for you. it’s an office lib dup. look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdBTa_FuB1g
That was a lot of fun and really well-made. I liked how they had the one line on the whiteboard and when they had them doing it in mid-conversation. Great song, too…From Germany?
Love love love the wedding proposal one!!
Awesome isn’t it? I’ve watched a bunch times since posting.

I’m stopping to comment after watching the office video to say that it made had me smiling and laughing the whole time. I want to work in that office! The Back Street Boys should pay them, because I also want to go right to iTunes and download their music!
“made had” — It’s a new verb. All the cool kids are using it.
Thanks for stopping by! Glad I could bring a smile to your face and pump up my Apple stock by $.00001.
I do what I can to support fellow bloggers, $.00001 at a time!
