The Food and Wine Hedonist

leave your inhibitions at the door

Change is Good

In this case, it’s AWESOME.

I know that many of you come here for my hilarious takes on food, drinks, and music. (And my humility.)  And ever since I revealed my face, some of you keep coming back here to see if I’m going to post nude pictures.  (I’ll consider it in exchange for a Range Rover.)  Of course, there’s still the random weirdo who comes here because they Googled “Alex Trebek Shirtless”.  (I’m up to 24 of those.)

But it hurts me to see you leave my site because you couldn’t easily find answers to burning questions like –

1 – Can I roast cauliflower?

2 – What the heck can I do with this cucumber that involves actually eating it?

3 – I need to lose a good 20 pounds.  Is there a horrendous Chinese buffet that I can eat at for five straight days?

4 – Where’s a good place to go in San Francisco?

5 – I’m tired of modern desserts like “Coffee and cardamom souffle with a demi-tasse of Apricot Soup.”  Where can I get a recipe for Pineapple Upside Down Cake?

6 – When is Lindsay Lohan going to put out some more music?

Now you don’t have to leave this site.  At least not right away.  I’ve modified the navigation menu on left side of your screen.  No, your other left…  Most of the items there are Categories and clicking them will bring up recent nine posts in those categories.  But that isn’t very conducive to browsing since I’ve posted over 60 recipes and around 40 restaurant write-ups – not counting the 44 burritos in The Burrito Guide.

The other problem is that you only see the titles of the posts and I couldn’t always mention everything in the titles.  Of course, you can always enter “grilled watermelon”  or “rub and tug” in the search box on the top right.  However, you would have to know what you’re searching for.  (Note – go ahead and try “rub and tug” in the search box, it’s safe.)

So I’ve simplified things by creating lists of all the recipes and restaurants ever mentioned here.  So what used to be “Cooking” now reads “Recipe Index” and the former “Dining” link now reads “Dining Guide.”  The Dining Guide is organized alphabetically by city and I was thinking of trying to do a cross-reference by cuisine.  Unfortunately, I got distracted by some other Lohan pictures.  The Recipe Index is organized by type of recipe – drinks, soups, desserts, etc. and  I was thinking of having a full ingredient index.  That one was derailed by 100% genuine, unadulterated laziness.  But I did manage to hyperlink all of the entries on both pages, so you’re only a click away from pure greatness.

So give it a try and let me know what you think!

By the way, the answers to the above questions are

1 – Yes, absolutely.  And it’s one of my favorite recipes. Made better with this picture of a friend Tebowing on a plank.

Still not sure about what they’re wearing…

2 – Mexican Cucumber Recipe, but wash it off first.

3 – Some horrendous Chinese Buffet  in Manhattan that was the only thing open when Hurricane Irene hit.

4 – Bar Agricole.

5 – Right here, you silly goose.

6 – Not soon enough.
