The Pieholes are finally getting back into the school groove. After months of staying up late when there were no such things as “school nights,” it was really hard for them to fall asleep when the school year started. It was a thrilling summer for them, where they:
– built a rocket
– fought a mummy
– climbed up the Eiffel Tower
– discovered something that didn’t exist
– gave a monkey a shower
– surfed a tidal wave
– created nanobots
– located Frankenstein’s brain
– found a dodo bird
– painted a continent
– drove their sister insane
As you can see there’s a whole lot of stuff to do before school started this fall.
Sound familiar? Yeah, it’s the theme song to Phineas and Ferb.
If you haven’t seen it, the show follows the two lead characters in their daily epic quest to make summer vacation last as long as possible. I swear my kids have seen every episode of the show at least ten times. That means, as evidenced by my ability to write the above list from memory, I’ve seen each episode at least four times.
You’d think after seeing all those episodes they would get inspired and, you know, actually do something. But no, they were content to sit around and watch TV, play video games, or hang out at the pool. One time, they were ambitious enough to ride their bikes to the park. I was SO jealous of all of it.
It’s actually a funny show with some great characters and very witty writing, especially when they do their random musical episodes. One of those characters is Phineas’ older sister Candace, whose voice is provided by this week’s Guilty Pleasure artist – Ashley Tisdale.
I totes didn’t realize that it was her voice. I really liked her in High School Musical, and… and…. OK, that’s three strikes – admitting I liked High School Musical, memorizing the Phineas and Ferb theme song, and unrepentant use of the word “totes.” I’m out.
So what’s guiltier, today’s post or last week’s Bieber homage?
I’m pretty sure I have absolutely no idea what you were talking about here. How old are your ‘pieholes’?
Twin girls about to turn 12, son is 9. The show is on Disney channel.
Well, I have a 12 year old girl and a 9 year old boy (and a 5 year old girl, too), who aren’t allowed to watch many TV shows. That said, we are probably as familiar as you with Phineas and Ferb. Honestly, there are times were my wife and I have considered watching it without the kids, it’s that cleverly written. As for Tisdale, her character has one of my favorite lines from the show (“Mom, that’s why books have covers, so you can judge them!”) and certainly wins this battle with Bieber.
