WTF!?!?!? I thought for sure the Mayan Apocalypse was going to happen. Now I’m scrambling, trying hard to buy back all my worldly possessions. Meanwhile, enjoy this one from last year! Merry Christmas!

This weekend, zillions of people across the world are celebrating Christmas in some form or another with their own definition of “the true meaning”. Whether you go the religious or secular route – or somewhere in between – I hope you enjoy your time with family and friends. And, for those of you in the British Commonwealth who celebrate Boxing Day, let’s get ready to RUMBLE!!!
What? That’s not when we strap on the gloves and beat someone silly like Marvelous Marvin Hagler did to John “The Beast” Mugabi?
And you thought I was going to bring up fellow Filipino Manny “The Mexecutioner” Pacquiao. (boxing.com)
Do people still get upset about the commercialization of Christmas? You know, all that talk about how shopping, sales, and drunken office parties have made people lose sight of how it’s a religious holiday to celebrate the J-man’s birthday? The holiday shopping season has been starting earlier and earlier every year to the point where I saw Christmas stuff in stores in early October. So I wonder if the commercial part of the holiday season has gotten SO over the top that people are able to compartmentalize the shopping from the religious.
I think the bigger problem is the proliferation of Christmas music. Maybe it was my time spent working retail in holiday season, but I’m sick of it. To be clear, it’s not the songs themselves – I love traditional Christmas songs. It’s the ones that popstars decide they need to record and sell that bother me. It seems everyone is doing it now and some radio stations are more than happy to oblige by switching to an all-day holiday music format. This really shouldn’t bother me as most of these are the “Light Music” stations that I don’t listen to anyway. But I’m finding my usual stations are playing more and more in an effort to not lose listeners. I know I’m sounding like a Grinch, but can you honestly defend this song –
For me, any Christmas song I find I actually like is a Guilty Pleasure. One of my all-time favorites is the unlikely collaboration of legendary crooner Bing Crosby and rocker David Bowie, performed on Bing’s Christmas special in 1977. I actually can remember seeing this live on TV. Damn, I’m old.
Merry Christmas!
You’ve seen this, right?
HA! Hadn’t heard seen that and the routine is hilarious. I had to check if that shit is real and came across the video. OMG….it makes my ovaries hurt.
Hurt? Made my schlong bleed. straight from the tip.
