Buried at the end of my year-end wrap-up of 2012 music posts was my invitation for guest bloggers for my Friday music posts. I’m happy to say that this post… is not one of them. BUT, I’m ecstatic to say that I have received a couple guest posts already and there’s interest from a couple more people! The first one will be coming your way next week, from the lovely and talented Heather from Seasoned with Sarcasm. It’s a great post, so make sure you tune in.
I got such a positive response from my first Man-Crush post on Chris Brown that I decided I wanted to make this a regular thing. No, that’s not right… I did get a positive response but, as regular readers hear will tell you, I’m not above shoving stuff down your throats that I thinks is funny. Anyway, I started thinking about who would be the next subject of my next humiliating confession shout-out. This was a few days after the season finale of The Voice and I realized that I was going through serious Adam Levine withdrawals.
I had never seen The Voice up until this season and I’m not sure why the hell I started. I had taken a vow never to get sucked into another singing competition show after that Rockstar: Supernova trainwreck. But The Voice is a great show. There’s a strong focus on the music, thus there were more performances by better singers than the glimpses I saw of X Factor, America’s Got Talent, American Idol, etc. What’s especially unique is that the “judges” are actually coaches so there’s a little bit of a side competition. Each of them has their own specialty – the often-entertaining Cee Lo Green brought his soul/R&B expertise, whatever that hillbilly’s name is brought the country, and Christina Aguilera brought the pop. And the boobies.
But the man-crush highlight for me was the very handsome Adam Levine.
Damn, he’s good-looking. I like a little more meat on my fellas, but will make an exception here. Did I just type that?
But it wasn’t just the looks that made him watchable. He was often just as funny as Cee Lo and just as personable as that hillbilly. I’m really surprised that with his looks and personality he hasn’t gone Hollywood like Justin Timberlake, Chris Isaak or DMX. (That last one’s a joke…)
In the spirit of that Chris Brown picture I had the decency not to actually post but only linked to, here’s one of Adam Levine. It’s definitely safer than the Chris Brown one.
The first time I heard of him was with this Maroon 5 song which was huge on the radio. It’s still one of my favorite songs by them. It’s classic pop with its catchy hook, perky guitars, somewhat shallow lyrics. Then I saw the video.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d still prefer the chick in the video but, c’mon, guy is cute.
I know, I sound like a teenaged girl. Musically, I thought for sure they’d be done after that first album and then fade off into obscurity. Adam’s tv-friendly looks and charm surely helped keep the band in the spotlight, but you need more than that. It wasn’t until I caught them playing a Neil Young song on TV that I saw how talented the band Levine really is. I didn’t even realize he played guitar, let alone could rip out a guitar solo like that at about the 3:00 mark.
So with the talent and my man-crush leading them, the hits just kept coming. Even now, they’re still putting out good stuff like these two:
Are you an Adam fan, too?
Do you have any crushes you’re barely able to admit to?
gay
Have to admit Adam’s got the goods; looks and talent. Noticing a pattern here, are your crushes mostly musicians? Rock on brother.
Not always. But I do music posts on Fridays and they fit better there. If there was a man-crush chef, I’d write about him but none exist. The images I keep coming up with are Mario Batali and Emeril. ick
But what about Tyler Florence? Jamie Oliver (Hellooooo! British!)? Chuck Hughes (covered in tattoos!)? Just naming some of my personal favers 😉
I have to agree. He is supercute. I like to look at him a lot. Nina thinks it’s funny. But I also think he is quite douchy. So, eye candy: yes. Listening to him talk? Not so much…kinda like Christina’s boobs.
Her boobs talk?
To me, they sing. 🙂
HAHA!
Never watched The Voice until this season but Loved it! I have that linked photo on my computer and have circulated it to all my girlfriends at one time or another. It makes a crappy day somewhat bearable. Glad to hear you’ll be continuing with the Man-Crush posts!
Did you see that other pic that someone sent me of Levine? It’s on my FB page – https://www.facebook.com/TheFoodandWineHedonist. Has caused quite the stir.
Oh yeah, and I was quick to share it with my GF’s and they approve! I think I reposted it on my personal FB page as well 😉
Whew. Good to know ur on top of it!
Just saw your man-crush chef comment….I’d go with Rocco DiSpirito, Tyler Florence or Michael Chiarello.
None are screaming at me. Maybe Bourdain for his wit. Or I may just have to do a girl crush post on Giada. I’m flexible like that.
Um, I am pretty sure that if Adam showed up at my door and said nothing more than “hello” I’d pass the hell out. for real. I’ve had a mega crush on his since I first heard him sing his catchy, heartbroken lyrics from Songs About Jane. He’s funny, he can sing, he’s hot…that makes him even more crush worthy than Chris Brown. Not sure if you are into weird, slightly creepy tv shows, but he did his television debut on American Horror Story: Asylum. Sadly, he didn’t last very long, but he was nice to look at…even when the serial kill ripped his arm off. Here’s the first 5 minutes of the show – along with some annoying chick yammering on about it for the promo lead up – if you are interested! http://youtu.be/cAR8LVLlENA
He’s a cutey for sure. My problem with most male musicians is when they speak, as 95% of the time they’ll say something to dampen my crush. Oh well.
He was pretty good in the Voice. Admittedly I haven’t heard much of what he’s said outside the show. Whatever douchy thing he may have said probably couldn’t come close to John Mayer, though.
IS he how you imagine the Beebs all grown up? Those things of Christina’s should be illegal….How is a guy like me supposed to focus now?
I’m sure pics of the Biebs will help u get back in focus!
Christina Aguilera has some tits on her!!!
Goddamn!
But since when though? She was always scrawny to me, but her boobs didn’t look that big 5 years ago.
She’s also a good 20-25 pounds heavier. She was pretty scrawny before, now she’s probably considered curvy. I always thought she was cute an gifted, but can’t stand her singing style.
Wow, I totally didn’t know that she’s curvy now. I haven’t looked her up since, so I didn’t know
Good to see that pic woke u up!!
LMAO yea I know. Wide awake
I don’t know; a little on the weasly side.

LIKE! I’ve always been a Maroon 5 fan, but Adam won me over on The Voice, too! Before that, I thought he seemed like a jerk and he didn’t do it for me (I like a little more meat, too)! He is ridiculously talented; perfect pitch. And craaaazy hot. I don’t even like tattoos, but dang! Peppermeister and I are working on a version of “Sunday Morning” right now.
And he’s hosting SNL (next weekend, I think)! Hosting! Not the musical guest! Ahhhhh!!!!!!!
I liked his latest album, Overexposed. Sharky (his nickname) is everyone’s crush, his 2012 GQ article reaffirmed we are compatible. A girl can dream…
Sharky? Admit it – this isn’t Christine, it’s Joe writing this

This post just made my day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
🙂
I have had a man crush on Adam for a year now.. And I have him as my phone wallpaper.. He’s just too attractive. Zzz, sometimes I do think that I’m weird having a man crush since I’m a laddie.. *I’m 16.
YOLO did for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5Otla5157c
