This Sunday is the Super Bowl, where the two best teams in football – the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos – play to determine the NFL championship. For the past few years, there have been so many guys complaining about how the halftime show sucks because they don’t have the manly classic rock bands like The Stones or Tom Petty anymore. But as I mentioned before, Super Bowl halftime shows in the past have traditionally included the likes of Carol Channing and Up With People. So the last three performers – Beyonce, Madonna, and the Black Eyed Peas – aren’t really that out of line.
The whole purpose of the halftime show is to bring in viewers and, generally speaking, the organizers don’t really have to work hard to bring in male viewers. It’s the chicks that they have to work harder on, thus this year’s choice for halftime –
The guy is a tremendous talent and writes a great love song. In addition to his good looks and sense of style, he is also a terrific live performer. But you know what his greatest asset is, right?

Yup, he’s Filipino. REPRESENT!!
But wait! There’s more! Doug Baldwin, wide receiver of the Seahawks –
*
Sure, Bruno’s only a halfsie and Baldwin’s a quarter-sie. But put them both together and round upwards….
So in honor of the National Football Filipino League, here are some faves from or featuring Bruno –
Nothing On You – B.O.B. featuring Bruno

Just The Way You Are

And I can’t get enough of this wedding proposal set to his song “Marry You”
*
Oh yeah, Bruno invited Red Hot Chili Peppers to play with him. I’ve seen them before and they got to be boring live so I can’t imagine watching them on TV. Besides, none of them are Filipino. That’ll be a good time for a bathroom break.

Are you going to watch the game? Who do you think is going to win?

❤️the Filipino pride!!! Go Broncos (as they smoked the Patriots!!)
Don’t forget that Bruno also has some killer dance moves and he’s stripped down enough that maybe, MAYBE, he won’t blow out all of the electricity in the stadium.
I was going to say that his greatest asset was HATS. But Filipino heritage works, too.
Let’s not forget the Super Bowl halftime show to end all Super Bowl halftime shows:
It had something for EVERYONE!
sorry-no offense to any heritage, but I was thinking Bruno Mars was a strange choice (I know going for the female contingent- but hey- female here, not happy) and so I was figuring they brought in RHCP to appease the male contingent-which did make me happier- not that it matters as I never watch the half-time show, I usually find it cringeworthy in a way. That being said- heck yeah, watching! Go Broncos! (as a 49er fan and Peyton Manning fan)
i think i’ll enjoy bruno and the peppers both. great post and i’ll be watching and rooting for denver )
