A couple weeks ago, I had another song in my head that just wouldn’t leave. So I figured I’d try to write a post about it. It was Lou Rawls’ classic 1976 hit – “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine”

I absolutely adore that song. Even though he made 60 albums that sold 40 million records, I’d be hard pressed to name any other tunes by Lou. A funny story I do recall was when he was giving a performance to a bunch of kids at a school in Chicago where I’m sure he sang some uplifting, age-appropriate songs. But what that performance was most known for was his leading the kids in rousing rendition of the Budweiser theme –

Funny story, yes. But that’s about all I could get out of poor Lou. The post just wasn’t meant to be.

In watching his video, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a link to this…

WHOA!!
Any of my Italian and/or opera-loving friends out there, please help me out – how was this supposed to be a good idea? I was going to feature this for a future “Honky Covers” post, but realized this was an actual collaboration with Barry!
I thought, what’s next? This?

Nope. That’s not what was next. THIS is what I saw next…

At very least, it got that Lou Rawls song out of my head.

Ciao, funky man!

I’ve never seen James Brown more uncomfortable. Look at his face and he’s clearly thinking, “What the fuck am i doing here?” But I’m going to find my one Lou Rawls CD and play it during dinner.
