How’s that turkey hangover going? (For those of you in Greece, I’m talking about the bird served as food here in the US, not your ongoing disagreements with the country Turkey.)
I’m either hungover from celebrating the Chicago Bears winning on national television on Thanksgiving or wallowing after eating my sorrows away after the Chicago Bears got humiliated on national television on Thanksgiving.
Either way, you’re getting a re-run today. Here’s one of the first music posts I did on this blog years ago…

I had a tough time which song of theirs to choose as this week’s Guilty Pleasure. Then it occurred to me that GPs don’t have to be one particular song, it could be the collected works of an (ahem) artist.
Why are the Pussycat Dolls a guilty pleasure? Mainly, they didn’t even start off as a musical act – they were a burlesque troupe. Gotta say, I don’t get burlesque. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always been a fan of the Canadian Ballet, but burlesque is different. It’s considered art now, probably because a) they don’t get fully undressed, b) the routines have some comedic elements, and c) the women are not your usual ballerinas. Ok, I’ll say it – they’re usually fat and ugly. We went to a fundraiser last year for the Ann Arbor Summer Festival that featured a burlesque show. The dancers there looked like what I imagine I would see at a run-down strip joint in Gozad, Nebraska.
Anyway, PCD evolved to a musical act headed by the lovely Nicole Scherzinger. She’s a multi-talented, half-Filipino (Represent!!) with a nice voice and killer dance moves. A year or so ago she used those dance skills to win “Dancing with the Stars”, where she was basically better than some of the professional dancers the show uses. The music is your typical bubblegum pop stuff – nothing’s going to make the Smithsonian in 20 years, but still very catchy, fun-loving, and danceable.
I know what you’re thinking… I only like them because they are smoking hot.

And your point is?
Posting two videos from them. This first one was a remake of the song that won the Oscar for Best Original Song, from the movie “Slumdog Millionaire”. Even they can make a silly Bollywood dance routine look good.
Here’s another…

Pussycat Dolls are a guilty pleasure of mine as well (well, they were when they were still somewhat relevant)…but Don’t Cha was an awful song.
Awww cmon!
Both our teams lost, though I would argue mine was definitely the more humiliating loss. No pleasure for me in your guilty pleasure 🙂
