California Hedonizing – Los Angeles, Day 1

We were supposed to go down to Houston on New Year’s Day to spend a week with my in-laws.     But there was a change of plans to where only Boom Boom would go.    It was a bummer because I like my in-laws and the weather was decidedly better than Michigan in January.  I even thought about a potential meet-up with my friend (and extraordinary wine blogger) The Drunken Cyclist, who moved there a few months ago.

On the other hand, I fucking hate Houston.  I have enough reasons for my feelings to fill a couple posts, but I’m trying to stay more positive in 2017.

Not wanting to freeze our asses off in Michigan, the kids and I decided to visit the great state of California.

First up  – Los Angeles

We started the day checking out Hollywood.   Yes, it’s cheesy but it was  cool to see all the celebrity-related things.

And, of course, the crackheads dressed up like characters for the tourists…

We were staying with family near Koreatown, so we took more than a few Boba breaks –

For lunch we went to Grand Central Market in downtown Los Angeles.  The market has been around since 1917, but it wasn’t until the last couple years that it became a place for serious foodies.   Now it’s filled with all some of the best food from different cuisines that the city has to offer.

After lunch we went to the Japanese section of town where I found a waifu which I, regrettably, didn’t take home.

Stay tuned for more LA fun, our trip up the coast, and San Francisco…

Oh bummer you didn’t get to meet up with Jeff! I lived in Houston from 6 to 12 years old, and still have family there now. I am not too fond of the city as it is now, but LOVED going to Astroworld growing up. Houston’s version of Disney World, which is now defunct.

Astroworld was still there when I started going ther. Kept saying we’d go “next year” then it closed. I’ve hung out with Jeff before, so not THAT big a loss. 😉
