The Food and Wine Hedonist

leave your inhibitions at the door

The Hedonist was born in the Philippines, lived most of his life in the Chicago area, and currently lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  He started this blog in July 2011 because… because… OK, he has no clue why he started this blog.  He has no formal writing training or experience but is eager to point out that neither does 95% of the people in the blogosphere.  His main qualification for writing about food is that he’s eaten at least once a day for as long as he can remember.  He does have formal sommelier training, though, so he does know more than most people about beverages.  His other major passion is music – as a listener, recreational musician, occasional musical theater performer – and insists on writing about it, although it has nothing to with the name of this blog.  He’s married to a gorgeous blonde named Boom Boom and is trying to make sure that his three kids have his same love for life, food, drink (when they’re old enough), and music.  If all else fails, he’ll settle for them having the same sick, twisted sense of humor.

The Sicilian is a professional business writer and recreational food blogger living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She has no training as a professional chef, but has taken beginning and advanced French basics-type cooking classes. Most of her adult life was spent in the San Francisco Bay Area, which greatly influenced her views on food and wine. The Sicilian is married with two kids and a senile cat, and her favorite genres of cooking are rustic Italian and Southeast Asian. She has never won a chili cook-off or competed in a Betty Crocker cooking contest.

Hi to both The Hedonist and The Sicilian,

Although I was practically in my REM state at this moment (even with BigBang blaring in the background) I was (shortly) awakened by this blog. I’ll find out the reason why later, so I’ll probably write a better comment.

    See you then.

Brilliant “About” page. Brilliant. I love food and my novel has a strong food theme and I think your blog will be good for my writer and lover-of-food soul!

Hi! My name is Sue, and I’m from SlimKicker, a diet/fitness app and site. I saw your blog a few days ago and it captured my interest!

I’m contacting you b/c we’re about to release a fitness tracker (similar to FitBit) early next year, and are looking for bloggers who would be interested in getting 1 for free to review when it is out (negative or positive).

Would you be interested in doing this? You can email me at: sue (at) slimkicker (com) with ‘Review’ in the email heading if you are.

Just to let you know, our site SlimKicker basically turns your diet/fitness goals into a fun level-up game. The tracker will work in conjunction the website, and allow people to track calories burned and number of steps they walk automatically. The more they exercise, the more points they rack up! That’s basically how it will work.

Anyway, hope to hear back either way…

    – Sue
P.S. You can choose not to publish this comment as this is more of a private comment 🙂

I’ve added a new feature so you can publish your blog posts on Urbanspoon yourself without having to wait for us to do it! Next time you post a review, give it a try. Here’s how:

    – Make sure you’re signed into Urbanspoon.
    – Go to your Urbanspoon blog page (not your user profile):
    – Click “Edit blog settings”.
    – In the Pending Posts section, click “Edit and publish my pending posts”.
    – Then, enter the “snippet” text, verify the date and URL, and press Publish.

    Please make sure that:
    – The URL should be the permalink to the blog post (not the blog home page, a post preview, or a service like feedproxy).
    – The snippet should be 2-3 sentences (quoted from your blog post) that gives an idea of what’s in the post.
    – The snippet should NOT include bylines, dates, address info, captions, tags, HTML code, etc.

Note: there may be a delay of 1-2 hours after you post on your blog until our system detects the post.

We’ll give you one week to do it yourself, then it’ll go into our queue to publish.

Thank you for all of your contributions, and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi! Im here to not troll you because you didn’t lie to me and break up a partnership extending back to last October at least.

Sadly you have been hoodwinked by Conrad. It’s ok, but he is brilliant content as far as what not to do in social media.

Does Sir Mix-a-Lotta-Ingredients have a cookbook? I would 100% buy it.
